Finding somewhere to stay for a few days and relax in Paphos, Cyprus? The Azia Resort and Spa is a good choice for a quick break. Although, anything longer than a week and you may find yourself finding things to do. This would be the same for Paphos, Cyprus itself.
Somewhere to relax, sunbathe and do nothing, this is a perfect place for just that. The moment we arrived at the airport it was a 30-40 minute drive to the hotel where we were organised shared transportation. Arriving at the hotel we were greeted by a friendly person to help with our luggage and check-in.
We decided to go for a sea view room, which had a great view and balcony for those days you don’t want to be by the poolside. We chose a good time to go, just before the Summer holidays and before the start of the peak Summer season. It would have been nicer with a higher room to see more of the sea view, rather than on the 1st/2nd floor where we get the majority of the trees and pool view.
As we were on half board, we had our lunch OR evening meals provided per day and had to pay for our drinks during the day. The drinks bill did eventually add up, but this is expected on any half board holidays. The service at the restaurants was good and there was a variety of choices each day with a different theme night. We did notice that every night there were plenty of vegetables and salad for those with a healthy appetite. As with the majority of buffet food, there was a major lack of quality due to mass production. The adults/couples only section to eat out gave you a great view of the sunset adding that romantic feel to your dinner.
Everything in the hotel regarding extra food and drink was expensive (best going full board). With such a wide space of rooms, we did notice that the WiFi was extremely poor, getting signal and losing signal every few minutes. The best signal we noticed was either in the lobby or by the poolside, any further out of the hotel and you will lose signal. The Spa had a good range of treatments, but this comes at a steep price. If you can afford the treatments then I would say it is nice to make use of them and relax.
The area had very little activity, having to go to town via a bus ride (which was only a few euros). In the town, there were plenty of tourist attractions and places to explore. Around the hotel, only a couple of decent restaurants which did not surprise us as we may have been better off with a full board option. Overall it is a nice place to just relax and not think about anything.
